Where is the injected fat harvested from?
Fat is mainly harvested from the thighs and abdomen, where it is abundant and relatively easy to collect. Other donor areas are used less often because harvesting from low-fat regions may affect graft survival. Consult a specialist in advance.
How long do autologous fat-grafting results last?
Autologous fat grafting offers long-lasting results. Once the graft has settled, the volume usually remains stable if body weight is maintained. Weight loss can shrink fat cells and make the volume seem reduced, while natural aging can also decrease facial fat over time.
When should I have a second procedure?
A second procedure adds volume to areas that received insufficient grafting in the first session. It is generally recommended 1–3 months later, after major swelling has subsided.
Will I lose much of the graft if I lose weight?
Avoid rapid dieting after autologous fat grafting. Even after successful survival, substantial weight loss can reduce both fat-tissue volume and the total number of fat cells.
